Chapter 2: On Humility and the Labor of the Earth

About This Series

This series, The First Epistle to the Aquarians, is a thirteen-month cycle of proclamations designed as an ethics curriculum for the dawn of a new age. Published on each Rosh Chodesh (New Moon), these chapters explore the intersection of Messianic faith, vegan ethics, world federalism, and the ethics of augmented intellect. The series operates on the Aquarian Vegan Era (AVE) calendar—a private sectarian complement to the Gregorian year—which identifies the 2026 CE as the Aries Point of a new 2,148-year Great Year cycle. By keeping the Watch of the New Moon, we seek to align our internal lives with the Interbeing of the New Creation as foretold in Isaiah 66:23.

Having set the Watch of the Moon in the fire of Aries, we now descend into the fixed earth of Taurus, where the contemplation of the mind must become the labor of the hands.

This is the Second Great Threshold of the Year: where the "Veg" of our Vegetarian beginning meets the "An" of our Vegetarian ending, forming the full circle of the Vegan life—the Alpha and the Omega of the non-violent path.

If the sanctification of Time was the first command given to the Nation of Israel at the gates of the Wilderness, let it be remembered that the sanctification of the Body was the first command given to the Species in the peace of the Garden.

For Hashem said to the first humans: "Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing herb and every fruit-bearing tree; to you, it shall be for meat." This is the original constitution of our kind, the primary Mitzvah of the soul’s dwelling.

We recognize the long centuries of the Fisher’s Age as a time of concession and hiddenness, but in the Aquarian dawn, the concession is expired; the fleshpots of Egypt are left behind for the Manna of the Seed.

Let the foundation of our New Economy be the vegan farm and the sanctuary of the permaculture garden, for the Earth is most efficiently healed when the Bull is a brother and the soil is tended without the shedding of blood.

Consider the mathematics of the Creation: that it requires tenfold less of the Earth’s surface to sustain the life of a man through the plant than through the flesh; thus, Veganism is the safest arithmetic for a populous World Federation.

We acknowledge the Prophet's Warning: that a Forty-Year Fast is required of the nations—a Nineveh of the spirit from the year 2020 unto 2060—to avert the collapse of our common home.

Let the wealthy and developed lead this fast with rigor, for they have consumed the portion of the poor; but let this transition be a work of mercy, not a decree of force.

Show tolerance to the seeker, the vegetarian, and the flexitarian who walk the outer courts of the Ecclesia; for the path to the Peaceable Kingdom is a gradual ascent, and every step away from the slaughterhouse is a step toward the King.

Discern wisely the Manna and the Quail of the Transition, whether it be the plant-based breads of our age or the cultured proteins of the laboratory.

While some may see in the Lab-Grown a deception of the senses, we see a mercy for the innocent; if a bridge of Cultured Meat allows a brother to cease the killing, let that bridge be honored as a provision of the wilderness.

Yet the Vegan Farming and Gardening Vanguard seeks the higher way: to eat directly from the hand of Hashem through the labor of sprout and soil, keeping the Hardware of the body as clean as the Software of the spirit.

In this month of Iyar, the month of the Radiant Bull, let your Mussar be the stewardship of the Earth and the cultivation of a non-violent table.

For as we heal the soil, we heal the flesh; and as we heal the flesh, we prepare the way for the Risen Aquarian King to find a home among us.

If you are not yourselves stewards of the soil, pray in grateful earnest for those who are: from the remotest planter and the harvester under the noon sun to the nearest distributor at your gates. Let your conscience demand for all in the food system the dignity of respect and fair compensation, for no table is holy that rests upon the exploitation of a brother.

In the Aquarian economy, let none among the nations go hungry while another hoards the increase of the land. We do not hoard out of fear, but we walk in Prudence—maintaining a healthy surplus and planning for the days of emergency—that our abundance may serve as a storehouse for the neighbor in need.

Guard your heart against the pride of the Perfect Plate. Do not become a self-righteous vegan zealot but always observe Humility alongside Magnanimity; let your conviction be a light that draws, not a fire that consumes.

Bless your food as a sacred gift from the Creator and the human community. Take time to make your meals a joyous culinary art, eating to maintain a healthy body in balance and strength, yet knowing also the power and clarity of the Fast when the spirit calls.
